SWIMMING POOL INDUSTRY VOICE

Kevin Holleran is the President and CEO of Hayward Holdings, where he’s led the company through a period of growth and innovation. With a background in sales, marketing and leadership across multiple industries, he brings a broad perspective - and a clear vision for how pools can become a bigger part of everyday life.
Kevin, when you look at the role swimming pools play today, what do you see?
Among the very many benefits of swimming pools, I see an incredible opportunity to improve health and wellbeing. Pools, whether in a public setting or a backyard, are powerful environments for physical activity, rehabilitation and mental restoration. In a world facing rising rates of chronic illness, stress and inactivity, pools offer a unique, low-impact way to move, recover and heal. They can play a real role in improving health and building more vibrant communities.
What makes swimming pools uniquely suited to support health and wellbeing?
Water offers something that no other environment can. It absolutely supports the body and calms the mind. A pool can be a space for therapy, for focus, for community. Aquatic activity has long been more than just physical exercise - it’s a powerful tool for mental wellbeing. The soothing rhythm of movement in water, combined with even brief moments of social interaction, helps ease anxiety, reduce stress and combat the emotional toll of prolonged separation. That special blend of physical and psychological support is rare—and deeply needed.
How do you see the swimming pool industry evolving to support health and wellbeing?
We’re seeing innovation across the board – from accessibility features and smart technologies to sustainable design. But what’s most important is the shift in mindset. Pools serve as dynamic entertainment spaces – places where families gather, friends connect and lasting memories are made. More and more, we’re seeing pools not just as products, but as gateways to promote wellbeing, foster social interaction and enhance everyday living.
What’s your vision for the future of swimming pools?
It’s simple. A world where pools are more prevalent and accessible to all – and where everyone feels welcome in the water. Because when people have access to these spaces, great things happen. Health improves. Communities thrive. And people live better lives.
